Driver facing OWI charge following collision with milk tanker

An investigation is underway in connection with an alleged OWI-related incident that occurred just west of Appleton on Oct. 22. According to authorities, two people were seriously injured when a drunk driver who was traveling northbound on Highway 73 crashed head-on into a milk tanker. The collision happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. near Neillsville in the vicinity of Bride Waters Drive.

Clark County Sheriff's Office deputies, who are working in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Patrol in the investigation, say that the driver who is believed to be responsible for the accident has now been charged with a third offense OWI. Preliminary reports indicate that the charged man crossed the center line of the roadway, causing a southbound vehicle that was traveling in front of the milk truck to take evasive action. The man's car then crashed into the front of the oncoming tanker.

The 28-year-old operator of the milk truck reported no serious injuries. However, the 36-year-old driver of the car along with a 58-year-old passenger who was traveling with him at the time both suffered serious injuries and were transported to Marshfield St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment following the incident.

Motorists in Appleton and throughout Wisconsin who find themselves facing a similar drunk driving charge may want to discuss their situation with an attorney. The lawyer could work to help the client achieve the best possible outcome under the circumstances. In addition, the attorney may be able to make sure that the charged individual's rights are protected every step of the way.
