As the COVID-19 vaccine rolls out distribution, a significant question is, “who will receive it first?”
According to analyses by the Covid Prison Project and The Marshall Project, incarcerated individuals are included in “phase one” of distribution in at least six states. In a majority of states, incarcerated individuals are included in “phase two” of distribution. COVID-19 poses as a great danger to incarcerated individuals due to prisons harboring cramped facilities, offering inadequate medical care and housing a great number individuals who have underlying health conditions. However, some people object to criminals being among the first to receive the vaccine.
